Questions and Answers Q & A

Is Fifteen Minutes of Shame about you?

Not as far as I know.  I am, however, a real-life TV dating expert. You can see me every week on Daytime. Or find out more about me as a dating expert at www.stopgettingdumped.com

QIs the Dreamgirl perfume you mention in the book real?

Yes, although in real-life, it’s called Man-Magnet Parfum Glacé. The perfume really was created for me based on information in my dating advice book, Stop Getting Dumped!  on studies at the University of Chicago that showed that men associate the scents of cinnamon and vanilla with love. Laura Davimes, aromatherapist and owner of Herban Avenues (Richmond, VA)  created the perfume for me, and I wear it almost every day.  (It’s my husband’s favorite.)

You can order it here.  It comes in a little tin in an adorable red velvet bag for $19.95.  Really does work like catnip for men!

QuestionDo you have a newsletter?

AnswerDo I ever!  Sign up (on the right side of this page) to get updated on where you can meet me, find a Dreamgirl Academy Class, get the inside scoop on what I’m working on, and win free stuff.

QuestionI have a great idea for a novel. Will you write it and we can split the money?

AnswerNo, but thanks for thinking of me.  I have too many of my own ideas floating around in my head and not enough time to write them.  If you think it’s a great idea, you should definitely write the book yourself!

QuestionI have written a novel. Will you 1) give me a blurb? 2) help me find an agent? 3) help me get it published?

AnswerI’m always happy to give blurbs for work I love. Email me and we’ll talk.

I’m sorry, but I can’t help you find an agent or help you get your work published. For legal reasons, I’m not allowed to look at unpublished material. I think the best way to find an agent is to look in the acknowledgments section of books in your genre that you love. Make a list of your top five (or twenty) and research the heck out of them. Then, polish up your manuscript and send out your pitch. Other writers I know have met their agents at writer’s conferences.  No matter what, be sure that your agent is on fire about your work, and has experience in your genre.

QuestionI’m a big Hollywood producer/ studio head/star and I want to turn Fifteen Minutes of Shame into a movie. Who should I send my gazillion-dollar check to?

AnswerMy agent is the fabulous and brilliant Stephany Evans.  Please contact her for all rights inquiries.
